When LinkedIn wanted to understand the career paths and emotional issues of its workforce and create concepts for learning and development, they asked Dub to develop a private community of employees.
Overcoming inhibitions to make emotional connections
LinkedIn wanted to better understand the emotional context at work, and to explore the everyday hopes, dreams and aspirations of their employees - together with everyday career challenges.
Working with the Director of Learning, we designed and built a private online community that was a fun, friendly, dynamic and engaging environment for the global workforce to share experiences and develop new ideas. The community removed the physical barriers of internal communications and overcame the inhibitions of employees. Dub not only shaped the strategic aims of the project and provided the technology but also moderated and managed the community, so as to encourage staff to share their inner thoughts, feelings and experiences. Finally the Dub team helped analyse and filter the data to generate themes, insights and concepts.
Developing new concepts - fast
The first stage, ‘exploration’, delved into the evolving career paths of employees and revealed their latent and unmet needs. Then in the ‘development’ stage the LinkedIn Team used the insight and ideas generated by exploration to create a number of new concepts. These were then assessed and prioritised in the final ‘evaluation’ phase. The concepts were developed in weeks, rather than months (as previously) and plans put in place for internal launch in 2016.
